"High Water Everywhere" was the 1929 delta blues recording made by blues legend, Charley Patton. Recorded during his very first session with Paramount in June 1929. The recordings are frequently called Patton's best works. ==Background== Its subject is the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 which devastated Louisiana. Featuring intense vocals and rapid beating on the guitar box; it is regarded to be among the finest recordings made by Patton, his magnum opus.〔Sleeve notes for Screamin' and Hollerin' the Blues boxset, p63〕 Folk musician Bob Dylan pays tribute to the song in his 2001 "High Water (For Charley Patton)."
